Call of Duty: Ghosts confirmed to arrive on Wii U for Nintendo’s sake

Nintendo has had a tough time so far this year, the result of a host of popular titles or developing companies not wanting to strike any kind of a deal with Nintendo, passing on realeasing anything for its Wii U console. However, at the end of a dark tunnel, there is always a glimmer of bright light, and it seems like Nintendo is about to reach the end of that tunnel.

According to reports, after a massive amount of speculations and "what ifs" surrounding the next Call of Duty title and its involvement with Nintendo’s Wii U, Activision has finally confirmed that the company’s upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts title will release on the Wii U this when the game is made available for retail this holiday season.

While a lot of Nintendo users will receive the news with a huge sigh of relief, it would be a lie if we said this wasn’t expected eventually, considering the fact that previous titles such as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: World at War, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 have all arrived on Nintendo systems.

Activision’s official press release states: “Featuring an all-new world, story, characters and experiences, all powered by a new engine, Call of Duty: Ghosts is a stunning leap forward for the blockbuster franchise. For the first time in Call of Duty, gamers play as the underdog, fighting as part of a single squad against an enemy that has superior numbers and firepower.”

“Call of Duty: Ghosts' genre-defining multiplayer delivers gameplay innovations throughout, including dynamic map events, character customization and other features yet-to-be-announced. The title includes Wii Remote and second-screen Wii U GamePad support and more.”

However, nothing more has been mentioned about the game’s arrival on Wii U and all the gameplay features and details are yet to arrive. Nobody is sure if Treyarch will continue handling the Wii U port of the game as it did in the past.

Apart from Ghosts, Activision has also shown a green light to titles like Skylanders SWAP Force, Angry Birds Trilogy, Angry Birds Star Wars, SpongeBob SquarePants: Plankton's Robotic Revenge and Wipeout: Create & Crash.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is arriving this fall on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, PC, and Wii U.
