‘Street Fighter 5’ Season 2 Release Date, News & Updates: New Character Lineup Revealed? Capcom To Support Game Until 2020

The long standing game series of Capcom, "Street Fight 5," caused quite a confusion to fans when they released a video featuring Akuma because speculations came out that he may not be appearing at all in "Street Fighter" Season 2. Yoshinori Ono explained that the video that was recently released was not to introduce Akuma, but to show the fans what to expect in Sony's upcoming event.

However, Capcom made it clear that they will be supporting the game for more years to come, which means that the character could still come out in the future. According to producer Yoshinori Ono via Event Hubs, "It's not just a 1-2 year thing. We are looking pretty far ahead. We've planned out as far as 2020." That being said, it seems that Capcom is cooking something up for the fans and in a Twitter post by Ono, he revealed that he will announce something in the Capcom Cup Finals, which will be in December. Fans are hoping that this will be another season of the game, and that another character will be playable. There is still no news about "Street Fighter 5" Season 2. Fans are speculating that this could be announced in the event. Another is that characters like Blanka will be added in the character roster, as well as the god-like Akuma.

In other news, CapCom has banned "Street Fighter 5's" Skies of Honor Stage and it will not be used in the CapCom Cup 2016 describing it as, "Due to being too distracting for tournament play, the #SFV Skies of Honor stage will not be used for Capcom Cup 2017 and the CPT2017 Season."

Skies of Honor is not the first stage that is banned from competition in "Street Fighter 5". Kanzuki Beach which is launched on July 1 is also prohibited because there are low-traveling projectiles obscured by the water in the background in half of the stage. The CapCom Cup Finals will be held on December 2 and 3, at PlayStation Experience. For news and updates about "Street Fighter 5", stay tuned in Game & Guide.
