'The Walking Dead' Latest News & Update: Season 7 Viewership Declines; Should AMC End Its Series?

AMC's "The Walking Dead" viewership is declining as the viewers may not be interested in the split-off storytelling strategy of the series. The viewers took the social media in dismay saying that the series can do more.

"The Walking Dead" cliff-hanger from season six was a success as seen with the season seven premiere which gained 17.1 million of viewership. But, the peak viewership did not last with how the show tells the story this season.

The previous episode of "The Walking Dead" gave a shining moment for the character of Tara played by Alanna Masterson. She was separated from Heath and was washed up on a shoreline to be rescued by Cindy. She brought Tara to a secret camp whose all survivors were women. When she's about to leave, she swore that no one will know about Cindy's place to protect them from the Saviors.

Apparently, the sixth episode of "The Walking Dead" did not end up good for viewers. They felt that the series are now getting boring as it tries to split-off the storytelling for every character. According to ComicBook, the show has now less than 11 million viewers since season three.

Approximately, "The Walking Dead" had lost 6 million viewers in a span of five episodes and if the strategy of the storytelling will continue, the viewership is projected to decline more. The series is known to have shared pieces of the story seamlessly connected to every episode that will make viewers watch more. Now, with the pacing and the split-off story telling it makes each episode dull and boring which will eventually lead viewers not to want more.

According to Forbes, the declining viewership of "The Walking Dead" is an indication that the fans are no longer happy with how the story goes. In consideration, fans still can't process that the original members of the show were no longer there, especially if they made a connection between themselves and a specific character.

Meanwhile, the producers of "The Walking Dead" may consider ending the show up to season eight for a final episode. The declining of viewership could only mean that the viewers are tired with the circles of the story and want to know how everything will go to its end. It's nice to end the story of the series with higher viewership rather than the show is forced to cancel because nobody is watching.
