More Assassin's Creed games on the horizon? Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD and Assassin's Creed: Pirates rumored

Assassins are known for their secrets, and abilities to stick to the shadows. But video game fans? Not so much. They'll shine the light on rumors quicker than F.W. Murnau did to Count Orlock. That was a reference all the way back to 1922, you're welcome.

Case in point, if rumors are to be believed, than Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation, originally an exclusive release for the PS Vita, will be making its way to consoles as an HD port. An image showing the game's supposed logo popped up over at Chinese forum A9VG before making its way over to NeoGAF. The image also had a logo for something called Assassin's Creed: Pirates, which, according to theories from Eurogamer, could be either a tie-in or companion app. Apparently, "Ubisoft usually releases a mobile tie-in game for the series each year."

The image also had logos for confirmed Ubisoft titles like Child of Light and Watch Dogs.

Liberation featured the first female protagonist for the AC series, a southern belle assassin of mixed heritage, Aveline de Grandpre. Her story took place in New Orleans roughly around the time of the Louisiana Rebellion, not long before Assassin's Creed III's Connor joined up miles and miles away.

Aveline has been confirmed to return as a playable character in three PlayStation-exclusive bonus missions for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. As Lead Writer Darby McDevitt described, "It's a ways forward so Aveline is a bit older. It's not directly related to the end of her story. If Assassin's Creed IV is like a novel, Aveline's missions are like a short story." He added, "The present-day is set in Abstergo Entertainment - which is this fun, hip company to work for... at first. You are able to access the Aveline stuff because your coworkers are working on retrieving different genetic memories from all kinds of different people." You can see her original reveal trailer here.

Like Liberation did, Black Flag will have an Abstergo staff member in place of Desmond Miles to live out newcomer Thomas Kenway's memories, a possible way of connecting the two titles, and reason for Ubisoft to bring in a HD port and help gamers catch up on the story.

We'll keep you posted if Ubisoft confirms or provides any official information on either AC property.
