iPhone 6s Battery Issue Latest News & Update: Apple Phone Designed To Shut Down Under Extreme Cold Temperatures

Battery problems tied up to the iOS 10.1.1 update have been somehow explained by Apple, revealing that it was all part of the design. Apparently, the Cupertino company purposely designed the iPhone 6s to shut down once exposed to extremely cold temperatures.

The issue covers a certain batch of iPhone 6s devices issued over in China and the United States. Apparently, some users note that their devices shut down once battery levels reach 40 percent.

Curiously, this somehow coincides with an earlier post that tied up devices shutting down at 30 percent since applying the iOS 10.1.1 update. Most were under the impression that it was a software problem but Apple now says that it was all part of a feature they installed.

Take note that the previous report mentioned Apple devices shutting down at 30 percent when in fact Apple is referencing to it as 40 percent. Again, the Cupertino company has an explanation – singling out that the ones shutting down at 30 percent were not made correctly, Slash Gear reported.

Apple added that these are likely iPhone 6s units that were manufactured between September and October 2015. These units were allegedly ones that came with a battery component exposed to controlled ambient air. The problem covers only the iPhone 6s and owners can check the serial number entry here to see if they are affected.

it remains to be seen how Apple will go about this with most still under the impression that it was caused by iOS 10.1.1. The buggy nature of iOS 10 continues and the recent battery drains have yet placed another stain on select Apple devices.

Apple is expected to have this covered when iOS 10.2 rolls out to the public. The next mobile operating system is in its fourth beta and an update is likely to come out this December.
