‘Rick And Morty’ Season 3 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Release Date Delayed To 2017? Adult Swim to Make an Announcement Soon?

While previous reports indicated that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will premiere before the end of the year, it is now beginning to look like a 2016 release is unlikely. Furthermore, Adult Swim has yet to announce the official air date for the highly anticipated third season of the popular animated sitcom.

Now, new reports say that "Rick and Morty" season 3 may not arrive until 2017, possibly sometime in March, just as Mr. Poopy Butthole predicted. In a recent post on Reddit, user PopDavid, who said that he works on "Rick and Morty," claimed that the new season's release will probably be delayed to the new year.

"They just finished writing all the scripts last week (as per a tweet by writer Dan Guterman) and only have full animation for one episode (as per another tweet by Guterman)," the Redditor wrote. "Given that information, it should be pretty clear that any air date for this year is a long shot." The Reddit user also claimed to have already seen the "Rick and Morty" season 3 premiere episode, writing: "[J]ust watched 301. It. Is. NUTS!"

Earlier this year, "Rick and Morty" co-creator Dan Harmon said that "Rick and Morty" season 3 will premiere before 2016 ends. In September, writers Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener confirmed that they finished the scripts for season 3 back in August and that they were anticipating a production-room screening of "Rick and Morty" season 3 within a week or two.

But during an AMA session on Reddit last month, Harmon backtracked on his previous announcement, writing that he is neither authorized to nor capable of giving fans a specific air date for "Rick and Morty" season 3. In addition, Adult Swim has yet to release any teaser trailers for "Rick and Morty" season 3, suggesting that the release date is, indeed, some ways off.
