Batman: Arkham Origins’ Season Pass will be ‘a big deal’

Many Batman fans have lamented the $20 price tag of the Season Pass for Batman: Arkham Origins. Keeping the steep price in mind, Warner Bros. has confirmed that the Season Pass for the game is kind of a big deal, and that it will hold plenty of value for those who opt for it.

Speaking to IGN in a recent interview, Warner Bros. producer Guillaume Voghel has promised fans that the $20 they spend on the game’s Season Pass will come with a lot of value and that gamers will be surprised by its contents:

“The costume DLC is going to be available with the Season Pass and it’s basically a bonus right?" he explained. "There’s going to be a lot of value in that Season Pass. One of the items we can’t talk about yet…we’ll just wait for the gamers to really see what the entire package contains. It’s going to be a big deal,” Voghel stated.

The Season Pass was under heavy fire from fans last week after it was concluded that the new pass is mostly made up of superficial additions to the game, rather than extra levels or content. It includes the New Millennium Skins Pack and Infinite Earths Skins Pack – offering a total of 10 costumes for Batman and two for Robin.

Moreover, the Gotham by Gaslight Batman skin and Brightest Day Batman skin are also exclusive for those who spend money on the Season Pass, alongside a bonus episode called ‘Initiation’ that allows you to play as Bruce Wayne before he becomes Batman. The Season Pass also offers a yet to be announced story expansion.

Additionally, Voghel, at the same interview with IGN, also revealed some details about the future of the franchise. On the possibility of a future Superman vs. Batman game via Arkham Games, Voghel stated: “The Arkham brand is really independent from the movies and that’s something I think is at the core of its success; Rocksteady did that really well.”

“They isolated the game from the movies and the Arkham brand will keep going in that direction if there are other entries down the line. It’s really something independent; it’s in a world of its own and it’s a franchise we want to focus on only through video games.”

"DC studios has a lot to say in how we develop the Arkham franchise and they have great input. It’s always going to be a collaboration between Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and DC, but we really want to keep it independent from the movies," he added.

Batman: Arkham Origins is currently scheduled to arrive on Oct. 25 for PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
