‘Code Geass’ New Project Announced By Sunrise; What We Know So Far

Welcome back to the Holy Britannian Empire. Sunrise has confirmed they are working on several “Code Geass” projects and one of them is a brand new series. The studio is working on a third anime along with a compilation film trilogy.

According to Yibada, Lelouch Lamperouge of “Code Geass” is expected for a comeback as “Code Geass” season 3 is expected to be released in 2017. There is still no confirmation coming from the anime studio but it has been widely presumed and mentioned by rumors that the main character will be alive. Fans also hinted that the no alternate dimension version or clone will be in the new project. Some fans say that if the main character is alive, it will ruin the classic ending of the anime as depicted in the death of the character. The three-part film will recap all 50 episodes of the original “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion” series and the “Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2” sequel series.

According to Mobile & Apps, the next Sunrise’s project is entitled “Code Geass:” Lelouch of the Resurrection.” The story will take place several years after the “Zero Requiem” plan series main character Lelouch vi Britannia made. The announcement didn’t reveal the format of the new season, it could be a TV series, movie or series of web episodes.

According to Comic Book, while the fans are excited to hear about “Code Geass” and its return, they are also confused as to how the series will make a return. The new series is said to be a sequel to the Zero Requiem, but the arc ended with Lelouch dying in his sister’s arms. It will be interesting to watch how Sunrise plans to bring back the main character. Speculations are there might be time-travel involved.

The "Code Geass" project was announced on November 27, 2016, but, the release date is still unknown.
