Will 'Blindspot' Season 2 Finale Plot Twist Renew Show? Showrunner Hopeful for Season 3

Series creator Martin Gero is hopeful that NBC will green light his series for Season 3. He said the season finale in "Blindspot" Season 2 has a plot twist that could likely spearhead a renewal.

Martin Gero expressed his interest to see his show for another run on NBC. He credits his expectation to the twist in the storyline for "Blindspot" Season 2. The showrunner did not actually reveal what this plot twist is to avoid spoilers.

However, the tone in his statement hints that it is a cliffhanger in the season finale of "Blindspot" Season 2. Knowing cliffhangers, they deserve answers and closure in a new season if not in another episode. In the case of "Blindspot," perhaps Gero wants to reveal the answers in Season 3.

"We have a twist ending that I hope... well, I don't want to give a lot away. I think there's a lot of fun to be had, even if you're a casual viewer of Blindspot," Gero said in an interview with TV Guide.

There have been speculations that this plot twist in the season finale of "Blindspot" Season 2 has something to do with Kurt Weller and his connection with Sandstorm. Perhaps the FBI agent is a covert Sandstorm operative.

Regardless, Martin Gero declined to reveal any more details about his series. He also did not talk further about his expectations for Season 3. Instead, he assured that the remaining 13 episodes in "Blindspot" Season 2 will be explosive and fun.

Fans should expect to see more action and more cards turned in the second half of "Blindspot" Season 2. The midseason episodes will reveal a lot more about Jane's tattoos, especially why she has Kurt Weller's name tattooed on her back. Martin Gero said the midseason premiere will also focus on Patterson's revenge against Dr. Borden, who turned out to be Sandstorm's mole in the FBI.
