Samsung may be too aggressive in the design of the Note 7 that caused the battery overheat to the point of an explosion. This cost the giant tech company millions of deficit in revenue. There's a new theory why the Galaxy Note 7 had overheating battery problems.

The battery may have been packed in the phone too tightly, according to an independent engineering consultancy firm. Although Samsung has yet to say what it thinks the reason is to the exploding smartphone debacle that made the company to recall all Note 7 phones in the market.

Galaxy Note 7 Battery Issue: Separators May Have Been Too Thin?

CNet reports that the battery had no physical room for error with several potential risk factors that could result in a fire if anything went wrong. For one, a phone battery needs to separate positive and negative layers. The manufacturing engineering company believes the separators may have been too thin in an attempt to push the boundaries to make thing thinner with better battery life.

People sit on their phone and that would strain on the frame that is enough to break apart the polymer separators. This could cause the positive and the negative to touch and eventually explode a battery phone, researchers say.

According to BGR, when batteries are charged, they bloat a little. Engineers usually give about ten percent extra space to a battery.

With the Note 7, there was hardly extra space. So their theory was maybe the world's largest smartphone manufacturer was too gutsy in trying to be innovative jeopardizing the safety of the product. In a report, the researchers wrote; Samsung took a deliberate step towards danger, and their existing test groundwork and design confirmation process failed them. They shipped a dangerous flagship product.
