Battlefield 4 News: EA Simplifies Mandatory Install Issues on Xbox 360

Battlefield 4's Xbox 360 Installation Discussed, 2GB Mandatory Install Still Mandatory

No matter how much EA expresses its wishes related to an unhindered online experience for the new Battlefield 4, there are always small hiccups that create problems. Now, EA has come forward to address these issues and clarify everything regarding the mandatory install for the game running on Xbox 360.

Since releasing in North America, Battlefield has faced a number of issues related to the game’s mandatory install which requires an optional 5.8 GB install for the single-player and another optional 6.6GB for multiplayer install. However, EA, via its official support page, has looked to address such issues and has also clarified that players won’t be able to install the game data on a flash drive.

“The first time you start your game, regardless of which disc you use, you will be asked to perform a required installation of 2 GB worth of game content to your hard drive,” the team wrote.

“Note, the above-required and below-additional installations can only be installed on Xbox 360 hard disk drives, and cannot be installed to USB drives, or other alternative storage devices.”

It has been also mentioned specifically that “Battlefield 4 cannot be installed and played on a 4GB internal flash drive.” Moreover, irrespective of what the player might think, the game will offer the option of accepting the 2GB install or quit the game wholly. The player won’t be able to access the game unless the 2GB criterion is fulfilled.

“As with many Xbox 360 titles, in addition to the required installation each disc can be installed to your hard drive to minimize game disc access and improve load times,” the post adds.

“These additional installations are not required, but doing so can further improve and speed up your Battlefield 4 experience.

The Multiplayer Disc, or Disc 1, has an additional 6.6 GB of content

The Single Player Disc, or Disc 2, has 5.8 GB of installation content.”

This is not the first real bug for the game since release. It was revealed a while ago that the game was also suffering from loading screen issues on the Xbox 360. EA wrote on the issue:

“We are aware of a problem where Xbox 360 players can get stuck in an ‘infinite loading screen’ on Multiplayer when trying to join a server. This issue has been solved in the Multiplayer update, so we suggest all players download and install that update. It is not a mandatory update, so if you are encountering the loading screen issue, please make sure you have downloaded it.”

Battlefield 4 released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on Oct. 29 in North America and will be arriving on Nov. 1 in Europe, with versions for PS4 and Xbox One arriving in Q4 2013.
