'Deadpool 2' News & Updates: 'Saturday Night Live' Comedian Leslie Jones Wants In!

"Saturday Night Live's" resident loudmouth Leslie Jones has her eye set on a role she believes would really fit her acerbic, yet endearing personality: a role in "Deadpool 2".  Jones has been a part of "Saturday Night Live" for almost three years and has acquired quite the following among its fans. Her loud, woman-of-the-streets brand of comedy has landed herself some major roles in big movies and even in some bonafide blockbusters like "Trainwreck" and most recently in the latest, all-female iteration of the cult classic "Ghostbusters."

According to Leslie Jones' latest tweet on Dec. 8 at 12:41 AM: "I want to be in deadpool. I could be smart mouth side kick. And my power would be loudness!!" If cast in the movie, she will be part of the highest grossing "X Men" franchise movie earning $782 million worldwide. It won't be very difficult to see Jones in a character that resembles her "Saturday Night Live" persona.

Aside from her "Deadpool" tweet, Leslie Jones being in the news because of her social media feed is not a new thing. During the 2016 Olympics in Rio, she drew much attention being a Team USA superfan, live-tweeting her reactions to different events. This triggered an invitation from NBC for her to fly over to Rio as a commentator to cover swimming, track and field, beach volleyball and gymnastics for NBC, which is the same network that airs "Saturday Night Live".

"Deadpool 2" has been experiencing a rocky start in pre-production with the recent departure of previous "Deadpool" director Tim Miller and composer Junkie XL, which could dampen the momentum and overall feel of the much revered irreverent superhero franchise. As of late, "John Wick" director David Leitch has been attached to the project. "Deadpool 2" will start filming in January and Leslie Jones might just be what the movie needs to get it back on its feet. Looks like "Saturday Night Live" might have its next big comedy star. Here are some highlights of her Rio videos:
