The Android 7.0 Nougat update is now available for users of the Sony Xperia XZ and other devices of the tech company. Sony's ultimate aim for its gadgets is to upgrade them to the Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Sony Xperia XZ will finally upgrade its operating system after it was made available to the public last September 2016. Other Sony devices also getting the same update also include the Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra, Xperia Z5, Xperia X Performance, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium and Xperia X Compact.

Update features

This Android Nougat update will give owners of Xperia XZ the chance to work on multiple windows and run two applications at the same time. This will be perfect for those who need to do multiple tasks all at the same time.

In addition, a messaging applications will also enable Sony Xperia XZ users to share audio clips and video files with a simple tap of the finger. Improved security features and battery backup were also introduced in the new Android 7.0 update. This will make controlling the phone and its features easier for the users.

Android 7.1.1 release

The release of the Android 7.0 Nougat update was reportedly done since Sony is aiming to roll out soon the Android 7.1.1 update to the Sony Xperia XZ and other devices. Though is will not offer a lot of new things to users, the Android 7.1.1 Nougat will give users the ability to send GIFs using their keyboards. A restart option will also be added to the power menu of Sony devices.
