Nvidia Self Driving Car Release Date, News & Updates: Driver-Less Cars on California's Highways?

The Department of Motor Vehicles in the State of California announce recently its approval for Autonomous Vehicle Testing within its jurisdiction. The Nvidia Self-Driving Car was given a go signal to test its AI cars on public roads and highways of The Golden State.

Starting December 8, DMV has granted companies with self-driving cars permission to use public roads. These companies, include but is not limited to, Volkswagen Group of America, Mercedes-Benz, Google, Delphi motors, Drive.ai, Inc, Baidu USA LLC and NVIDIA Corporation. The companies that were granted the permit have to follow certain rules and regulations such as "Providing DMV with a Report Of Traffic Accident Involving an Autonomous Vehicle within 10 business days of the incident. Also, it was stated that "All the authorized manufacturer also have to provide an annual copy of "Disengaging Reports" to DMV.

Nvidia has been known to provide the AI processing power that supports some of the popular brands of self-driving cars. The Nvidia Self-Driving car known as BB8, have been practicing in parking lots and private roads for a while now. Going around strategically placed traffic cones, turning in blind curves, even driving at night time, this self-driving car already had a lot of experience.

According to reports, The test driving permit for self-driving cars of Nvidia was essential to the company to improve the quality and driving capability of its AI system. By giving access to the Nvidia Self-Driving Car to roam the public roads, more data will be collected by the system on such thing as following the traffic light and maneuvering on crossroads with real life drivers.

In other news, Nvidia had also been busy in marketing the GeForce graphics cards for VR Ready PCs. On a recent report, there have been 15 million VR ready PCs in the market. Zvi Greenstein also predicted that it might rise to 30 million by the end of the year.
