Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX Trailer Released [VIDEO]

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX Gets a Trailer In Time For the Holidays

Before closing up shop for the year Square Enix has released a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX. That confusing title hides the HD remaster of Kingdom Hearts 2, which hit the PS3 back in 2006. This is an improved high-def version of the game that comes packed with an extra tie-in game and HD remastered cinematics goodies.

This is the follow-up compilation to the equally odd-titled Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX that contained Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories, and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. I don't know what any of that means either (all those colons and slashes and capitalization makes my head hurt), but the first Kingdom Hearts is a really great and innovative RPG and the HD versions of these are the definitive ones. At first glance the idea of teaming up Disney characters with Squaresoft characters in a JRPG was ridiculous, but the tone worked beautifully. The license allowed them a lot of opportunities to use great charactesr and locations throughout all of Disney's history and anyone who wanted to see a darker take on some of these characters certainly got their chance.

As with the first compilation Kindom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX will be available exclusively on PS3. It will include the following titles:

  • Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix - previously on PS2 and exclusive to Japan.
  • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix - previously on the PSP and exclusive to Japan.
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:coded - HD remastered cinematics.

Expect Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX to hit late next year, probably at around the same price the previous installment did ($39.99). We can only hope that Kingom Hearts 3 is released soon after that. Check out the trailer below which shows off some of the best moments of the game.
