'Narcos' Season 3 News & Updates: Season 3 Spoilers; Release Date, New Cast Confirmed, Focuses On Cali Cartel

"Narcos'" Season 2 finale entitled "Al Fin Cayó!" was an explosive one featuring Pablo Escobar Gaviria being shot to death by members of the Search Bloc on a rooftop in Medellin in an explosive fire exchange. The movie sequel portrays the life story of Pablo Escobar Gaviria; a drug trafficker, a big-time smuggler and being an influential kingpin. However, Pablo Escobar's son claimed that his father committed suicide and not shot, to protect his family from authorities.

The third season will focus on a new cartel and will feature both new and returning cast members. "Narcos Season 3" will focus after Pablo Escobar's death and will center on the Colombian gang called the Cali Cartel, which served as both Escobar's rival and partner. "Narcos" already introduced the Cali Cartel as the group behind Los Pepes and they also had a role in Pablo Escobar's demise though it was the Narco police that ultimately sealed the drug lord's fate by killing him.

Pablo Escobar Gaviria, the infamous drug trafficker, became a billionaire through the production and distribution of cocaine. His capture was the result of a 15-month search effort. The upcoming season 3 will focus on the Cali Cartel and its members, who have been introduced by Pablo Escobar Gaviria in previous episodes, both as his partners and nemeses. Godfathers of the Cali Cartel consist of brothers Gilberto and Miguel, Pacho Herrera played by Alberto Ammann, and a fourth named Chepe, who is said to be an interesting character but not yet to be introduced.

"During Escobar's reign, he was delivering drugs straight to Miami but the Cali Cartel chose a different path by giving the drugs to Mexico and allowing them to distribute it across the border, Cali Cartel's strategy evolved with other drug gangs such as El Chapo's Sinaloa Cartel," as stated by Boyd Holbrook in an interview.

Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), a "Drug Enforcement Agent (DEA)" will return to "Narcos" Season 3. He narrated the first two seasons of "Narcos." Narcos Season 3 will air in 2017. In addition, a fourth season was already confirmed.
