‘Empire’ Season 3 Midseason Premiere Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: The Show’s ‘Most Dangerous’ Character According to EP; Will Lucious Die?

The first half of "Empire" season 3 concluded on Wednesday night with major bombshells that will definitely rock the rest of the season when it returns in the new year. In the season 3 ender, titled "A Furnace For Your Foe," Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) learned about a deeply disturbing incident in Angelo's (Taye Diggs) past, Jamal (Jussie Smolett) hit rock bottom, and -- most shocking of all -- Andre (Trai Byers) promised to kill Lucious (Terrence Howard), his own father.

Did Andre mean what he said? Or was he merely talking about dethroning his father so he could take over Empire? Could the firstborn Lyon son actually kill his father when "Empire" season 3 returns? According to "Empire" executive producer Sanaa Hamri, yes, Andre was serious and he does, indeed, intend on killing Lucious."He is going to kill his father," Hamri told Variety. "That's his goal. He wants to kill his father. That's what he's going to try to do for the second half of the season."

But the question remains: could Andre go through with it? According to Hamri, fans will just have to wait for and stay tuned to "Empire" season 3 to find out. "Lucious should really, really worry," she told TV Line. The "Empire" boss pointed out that Andre has already pulled off a sneaky stunt that Lucious still has no idea about. "Andre is going to be able to weave a web that could most probably or possibly take Lucious down," Hamri revealed. "He's going to do whatever it takes by any means necessary."

The "Empire" EP also said that Andre, fueled by the death of his wife and unborn child, has become the "most dangerous" character in "Empire" season 3. "Andre has nothing to lose," she said.

As for what else will go down in the back half of "Empire" season 3, Hamri dished that there will be more flashbacks to Cookie's and Lucious' younger years and that fans will get a deeper look at the pair's bond. The series will also focus on Andre's rise and how much damage he will inflict upon Empire and upon his family. "It's going to be a larger struggle for power, and we're going to see if the Lyon family will be able to stay together," she said. "Empire" season 3 returns to Fox in 2017.
