Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction PS4 Game Teased- is the World Ready for a Duke RPG?

Is The World Ready for a Duke Nukem Roleplaying Game?

Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded developer Interceptor Entertainment has just teased a upcoming RPG based on everyone's favorite washed-up shooter icon. Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction is in the works for PS4 and PC and will apparently be an top-down action-RPG title that sees Duke once again trying to save the President from aliens.

The word about the new game first came from a teaser website called AllOutofGum.com, a clear reference to the line Duke Nukem stole from "They Live"- "I'm here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of bubblegum."  If it weren't obvious enough of a joke the gum is "Original Kick-Ass" flavor, although he does appear to have quite a few sticks left. There's a countdown clock on the top of the screen counting down  to something being revealed on February 25th.

At first the site featured some alien text that would reveal details of the game when their Facebook page got 10,000 likes but the internet being what it is, it was quickly translated by fans. Here are the details from the translation- "The king makes his next generation debut in Duke Nukem: Mass Destruction. A top-down action role-playing game for PC and Playstation. Duke Nukem kicks ass across planets in an Unreal Engine - powered galactic adventure to save the president from an apocalyptic alien threat. All new enemies- a never-before seen aresenal of devastating weaponry and series-first mechanics; including experience points and tech treets, will let Duke rip em a new one in a way he never has before."

Intercepter Entertainment recently released the Rise of the Triad remake so they're no stranger to classic shooter franchises, although of course turning Duke into an RPG is something else entirely. Still, after the debacle that was Duke Nukem Forever a change of pace is definitely something that will be appreciated... as long as it doesn't take ten years to develop.
