The Thief reboot has gone gold! Thief is coming from Eidos-Montréal, who previously did such good work bringing back the Deus Ex series with Human Revolution. Since it's been ten years since the last game in the Thief series (2004's Thief: Deadly Shadows) they've released this 6-minute Thief 101 trailer to showcasae the world, the characters, and all of the new features of the game. It sure does look pretty compared to the original.
The news that it's gone gold means that it's right on track for its release date later this month. "It's a wrap, Thief is gold. It's nearly time for the fans to fall in love with Thief all over again, and time for newcomers to finally see what all the fuss is about" said Stephane Roy, Producer of the game in a statement. "Thief is one of the founding-fathers of the stealth genre; we're proud to have worked on such a well-loved series and proud to say; Garrett, the Master Thief is back."
It's true- there are very few stealth games that actually work. Thief is perhaps the best of them all, and as you can see below this reboot has the potential to be something special. There's a ton of different ways to traverse the environment and you can go about stealing everything that's not nailed down (and some things that are) in any way you like. Your greatest weapon (besides the darkness) is your bow and arrow, which will have all sorts of different tips to change up the way you play. The hardest thing of all will be to complete the entire game without killing anyone in the game, only knocking out a few people with your blackjack, but thankfully you can sell the items you steal and use the money to buy new gadgets and abilities that will let you become a better thief.
Thief will be released for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on February 25th. If you preorder the game you get an exclusive mission called 'The Bank Heist'. Check out the Thief 101 trailer below.
