'Far Cry 5' Release Date, News & Update: Australian Themed Landscapes? Ubisoft VP Teases 2018 Release

After the success of "Far Cry 4," gamers have been itching for a new installment of the video game series. However, fans will be unhappy to hear that the wait for "Far Cry 5" may take more than a year.

The "Far Cry" franchise is well-loved by gamers as it presented a unique gaming style. Ubisoft, the developer of the game, is also known for considering fan feedback and use it as a basis for the new installments of the game series. Unfortunately, the VP of Editorial for Ubisoft, Tommy Francois, recently spoke to IGN about the delay of"Far Cry 5." He explained that "Far Cry 5" may not release until 2018.

"I'll tell you what, we believe Alpha for these games needs to be one year before release. We're trying to achieve that. That's super f------ blunt, I don't even know if I'm allowed to say this. This is the goal we're going for: Alpha one year before, more quality, more polish. So if this means biting the [bullet] and not having an Assassin's game, or a Far Cry [in 2017], f--- it" explained Francois about "Far Cry 5." With that, fans should expect a wait for the release of the new installment.

In the meantime, fans have shared their speculations on what themes "Far Cry 5" will present. Reddit users have expressed their desire for an Eastern European kind of setting for the upcoming installment, which could represent the Cold War. With that, this could illustrate the happenings between U.S. and the Soviet Union.

Meanwhile, there are also some suggestions stating that "Far Cry 5" will present an Australian type of setting, which could present new creatures to the game. In addition, this could have the game feature a variety of landscapes.

However, these details about "Far Cry 5" have yet to be confirmed by any official source. With that, the upcoming game will most likely present a different direction. Fans will have to wait for more news on "Far Cry 5."
