Guild Wars 2 News: Glory Currency to be Removed in March, Latest Living World Event 'Escape From Lion's Arch' is Live [SCREENS]

Enjoy Your Glory Currency While it Lasts, and Lion's Arch is Aflame in Guild Wars 2's Newest Living Event

It's offiical, Guild Wars 2's PVP currency is on its way out. Like so many pints of grass-green beer, come March 18, glory goes right down the toilet.

In a recent post on the official Guild Wars site, programmer John Corpening wrote that as of that day of immense hangovers, "glory will no longer be awarded as of a maintenance build." In addition, all random reward chests will also be removed from PvP, and rank reward vendors will also be removed as a result.

This doesn't mean you have to rush out and spend what little glory you have, though. The post continued: "The glory vendor that was introduced in the December 10 build will remain until the new reward system is released in a later update so you'll have an avenue to spend your existing glory."

Now, onto the latest "living world" event. We offered you a peek at "Escape from Lion's Arch" last week, but today it's ready for players to experience. Super villain Scarlett has brought her fight right to the Kryta's front gate, and striking it where it hurts - its wallet.

As a press release describes, the Arch is the "multicultural centre of trade," and sits just outside of the capital city. Now, it lies near ruin, and the heroes of Tyria, made up of players and iconic characters, have to rally to either save the city, or simply flee it.

The release further noted, "Scarlet's attack on Lion's Arch sets the stage for a final ruthless push in her still mysterious grand plan. In 'Escape from Lion's Arch,' players battle alongside the Lionguard to take on Scarlet's dark allies and evacuate as many citizens from the city as possible. They will face ferocious challenges as her minions roam freely through the besieged city and in the waters of the harbour. To protect the innocent, players will have to battle everything from the brutal charr of the Flame Legion and the towering clockwork watchknights to vicious creatures such as the krait and the feared Aetherblade sky pirates."

It's not just the crumbling city and leaping flames that are cause for concern either. "As all of this takes place, a deadly miasma poison spreads across the city, forcing desperate survivors into refugee camps in the outskirts. At the Vigil Keep in the Gendarran Fields, players will find a new rallying point and an impromptu hub of trades and services they'll need to defend Lion's Arch. Only they stand between Scarlet and total devastation for one of the most important cities in Guild Wars 2."

You can check the trailer for the event here, and we've got scores of pictures below. But don't glare too long, the city's waiting on you.
