‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News & Updates: Christmas Event Period Yet To Be Decided, Data Miners Uncover Special Presents For Gamers

“Pokemon Go” players are eagerly awaiting the next big in-game event for the hit augmented reality game. The latest on that is Niantic is reportedly choosing between two weeks on when to kick off festivities.

Niantic is reportedly choosing one of two for the special “Pokemon Go” in-game event. One is the week before Christmas (technically) now or the break between Christmas and New Year’s Day. With nothing special happening as of yet other than the Santa-Hat Pikachu, that in-game event could happen next week.

Then again, there is a chance that Niantic extends the period for a longer period of time for “Pokemon Go” players. It could happen today or even tomorrow to give them more chance to snag goodies and pocket monsters.

Either way, most “Pokemon Go” players are hoping to see good things soon. Most witnessed how Niantic caused a stir with their Halloween and Thanksgiving events, so anticipation is bumped up a notch for the holidays.

A reason for the delay of the “Pokemon Go” Christmas event could be the odd month of December. Aside from Christmas and New Year’s Day, there is New Year's Eve, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Festivus, and Boxing Day. Given those spells, there will be a lot of time for augmented reality players to participate in the special event, Slash Gear reported.

With regards to what to expect, “Pokemon Go” players are anticipating more spawns (with more rare sightings hopefully), more item freebies or even shortened egg-hatching through incubation periods. Niantic could even make capturing the Santa-Hat Pikachu faster by increasing spawns and coverage with the limited edition “Pokemon Go” critter available only up to Dec. 29.

Graphics for presents were recently uncovered by data miners, divided into Bronze, Silver, and Gold. These are separated in variants – Special, Great, and Ultra – new items that could give players some surprises, The Silph Road reported.
