Nexus 6P Follows iPhone 6s Battery Shutdown Issues; Android 7.0 Nougat Blamed

Apple has yet to properly address the battery drain problem that first plagued iPhone 6s. iOS 10.2 hardly rendered any help and was in fact singled out as a possible catalyst in giving Apple device owners more problems ahead.

As mentioned in a previous post, the whole battery drain issue is encountered by some who find their iPhones shutting down when the battery indicator reaches 30 percent. Apple clarified that this was a feature they purposely placed. But according to the Cupertino company, this would only occur if the device was situated in an extremely cold environment and that the actual shutdown would take place at 40 percent.

Nexus 6P shutting down too

While that should leave Apple in a bad light, it seems that even Android-run phones are experiencing the same. Nexus 6P owners are reportedly experiencing the same thing, seeing their devices shut down when their battery indicators reach about 60 percent.

Android 7.0 Nougat has been blamed by some, claiming that the shutdown occurs when their device reaches 10 to 60 percent of its battery life remaining, AOSPIssueTracker reported. Some have resorted to reverting to Android 6.0 Marshmallow but the move has not been able to correct the issue.

Huawei comes clean, points to Google

Huawei cleansed its hands of the matter, directing complaints to Google and the Android 7.0 Nougat. Google has not acted on the matter for now where a possible fix may only be done through a patch or another OS update. There is no timetable for now on when this patch would be rolled out.

That said, all affected users can do for now can wait. Those who have yet to apply Android 7.0 Nougat may want to think twice or skim for more information on the matter. The Nexus 6P has suffered and there is no official word yet if other Android-powered devices are affected by the dreaded battery drain issue.
