Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti: Release Date And Price Speculations

Some sources from Taiwan have speculated that Nvidia is prepped to officially launch its GeForce GTX 1080 Ti video card sometimes in between March 20 to March 23. It appears to be an odd release window given that the "Game Developers Conference" ("GDC") will be on Feb. 27 to March 3, 2017 in San Francisco, while Nvidia's GPU Technology Conference falls on May 8 to May 11, 2017 in San Jose.

Other sources report that the new graphics card might be showcased during the manufacturer's "GeForce Gaming Celebration" segment during the GDC 2017 show this month. It is scheduled to happen on Feb. 28, 2017 in San Francisco by 6:30 P.M. PT. Digital Trends notes that a Founder's edition model will be released late sometime in March, together with third-party manufacturer versions of the graphics card.

Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1080 Ti is apparently a downscaled variant of their Titan X graphics card, using a similar chip albeit with fewer cores. It will also reportedly the same memory bus, maximum power draw and bandwidth. Moroever, the 1080 Ti's memory falls somewhere in between the 12GB of the X and 8GB of the 1080 with a 10GB GDDR5X. The purportedly unannounced graphics card was supposedly revealed on the physical copy of "Halo Wars 2" for the PC.

The game apparently requires the new video card in order to run on Ultra settings. Meanwhile, reports also confirmed that the game's box did not leak any upcoming AMD Vega video card models. Meanwhile, AMD is apparently holding its own event called "Capsaicin & Cream" on the same day as Nvidia's show. AMD's showcase is expected to start by 10:00 A.M. PT, which is earlier than the 1080 Ti's official reveal schedule.

The price for Nividia's GeForce GTX 1080 Ti has not been officially announced, but sources have speculated it to range between $600 and $1200. The price as possibly calculated based on the idea that it's a model that falls somewhere in between the GTX 1080 and Titan X. Techradar notes an estimated price of $850 might be the ideal MSRP for the graphics card.
