Titanfall Xbox 360 Version: EA Delays Port Until April a Week Before Release to Fix Problems

Electronic Arts Delays Titanfall Xbox 360 a Week Before Release

Titanfall may have been in the hands of PC and Xbox One gamers for quite some time, but there's one group, a rather large one at that, still waiting to play Respawn Entertainment's mech shooter: Xbox 360 owners. Well, it looks like they'll have to be wait a little while longer as EA has announced that the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall have been delayed by two weeks.

Originally set to release on March 25, the Xbox 360 port by BluePoint games will now release on April 8. EA's Patrick Soderlund went to the EA news site to write that while the Xbox 360 version is “fantastic”, the publisher sees “a few things that can be made even better”.

Last week we reported on Xbox Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer Yusuf Mehdi's comments on Titanfall 360; he called the game “a great experience”.

"I think we struck the right balance - it was Respawn, really, and the developer who struck the balance - which is, it will play great on Xbox 360," Mehdi told Polygon. "Believe me, we are thrilled about it. Xbox 360 is in, obviously, all the markets including the top 13 with Xbox One; we're in 48-plus markets for [Xbox 360]. For many markets, that will be the game. So, we've worked together to have that be a first-class experience."

Electronic Arts has a knack for releasing games at a state where they're not fully ready, just look at Battlefield 4, which is still in the process of being fixed. It makes a lot of sense for them to ensure that the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall is as good as it can be. It won't be on par with the Xbox One version due to obvious technical differences, but it needs to be functional for all of those Xbox 360 owners that have yet to drop $500 on a new console.

BluePoint Games knows how to do good ports, so hopefully this delay is just to get the game at a better level and not because they're struggling with downsizing a current generation title on last generation hardware. I guess we'll find out on April 8. Who's waiting on this?
