‘Mass Effect: Andromeda’ Already Cracked On PC
Less than two weeks after its official release, “Mass Effect: Andromeda” has been successfully cracked and the game available for download on series of torrent trackers.
VG24/7 reports that less than two weeks after its release, “Mass Effect: Andromeda” has been cracked. This comes as a big hit on the Denuvo DRM system, which less than a year ago was considered uncrackable and completely secure. Now the game has found itself uploaded to popular torrent trackers and is fast spreading. Apparently, the loosely described deluxe and super deluxe editions, together with the two collectors editions, which did not even include the game, have not managed to persuade the audiences into buying the game. Now thousands of people will experience the vast, near-endless romance simulator with RPG mechanics for free.
Game Rant reports that the successful crack of “Mass Effect: Andromeda” is not the Denuvo system’s first big failure. Just a few weeks ago, upon the release of “Resident Evil 7”, it took the same team that cracked “Andromeda”, just five days to bring down the defenses set by the digital rights manager. If the tendency keeps going, it will lead to Denuvo becoming an obsolete piece of software, much like SecuRom and other, older copyright protections.
What is Denuvo? Denuvo is an Austrian-based company, which produces anti-tampering technology. Their goal is to give security to the right holders that their products will not be pirated. This technology is used on over 350 million pieces of software and is the upmost preferred protection of AAA publishers. The last few failures with “Mass Effect: Andromeda” and “Resident Evil 7” have put the company in an unfavorable position, where their choice is to either adapt and evolve, or fall out of relevance. It is not known what exactly their reaction will be, but one thing is sure, if the tendency keeps going the same way, there will be big changes introduced to gaming and DRM. “Mass Effect: Andromeda” is available on PC, PS4 and XBOX One.
