Hotline Miami PS4: Hotline Miami Coming to the PlayStation 4, Cross-Buy Supported
Speaking to Destructoid's Max Scoville, Devolver Digital's Nigel Lowrie has announced that their neon murder/psychopath sim Hotline Miami is coming to the PlayStation 4. Devolver Digital has been quite busy being a loveable indie publisher, with several new titles announced by the company at this year's Game Developer's Conference.
Hotline Miami was developed by Dennaton and released on PC in October, 2012. Since then, publisher Devolver Digital picked up the title and brought it to PlayStation consoles. The game released on PS3 and the Vita in summer 2013 and it has since gained even more popularity.
Devolver's Lowrie stated that Hotline Miami is coming to Sony's latest console, and you won't even have to pay for it if you already own it. The game will be completely Cross-Buy supported, netting owners a copy on three PlayStation consoles.
“We're going to bring Hotline Miami 1 to PlayStation 4 - just because we're gonna do it. We've already worked on Hotline Miami 2 on PlayStation 4, so we're just gonna do that. We're just gonna keep it cross-buy, because we feel that if the user has bought it [on a PlayStation platform] they have the rights to own it on Vita, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3,” Lowrie stated.
Devolver Digital is also planning to bring Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number to PAX East.
"What we're gonna show at PAX East and in a trailer before PAX East is the new hotness, and really things are going to change up the game quite a bit,” Lowrie teased.
The upcoming sequel will be available on PlayStation platforms, PC, Mac, and Linux. I am a big fan of the first Hotline Miami, so I can't wait to check out the sequel. As for Hotline Miami on PS4, that's a cool freebie they're tossing out there.
There's no word if the PlayStation 4 version will make use of the touchpad or lightbar, but I wouldn't be surprised to see an announcement that the DualShock 4 will make heavy use of the game's neon color-scheme.
