X-Men Trailer: 'Days of Future Past' Looks Very Promising in New Trailer [VIDEO]

X-Men: Days of Future Past Looks Great in New Trailer

It's been four months since the first trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past, increasing our anticipation and excitement by releasing small details in teasers and using marketing to keep the movie relevant. Now we've finally gotten another full-fledged trailer for the film--and it's a good one.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is due out May 23, so the release is coming up relatively quickly. Still, two months can feel like a long time, but the new trailer may be enough to hold you over. There is a lot of exposition, many mutants, and multiple flashes between the past and present (which the title may imply) as the mutants work to save their species from extinction.

The stakes seem higher than ever before for the main characters in an X-Men movie, even with the mutants versus humans plot that played out in the past. Their very existence as a species is threatened and Professor X and Magneto, both the young and old versions, find themselves being forced to work together.

Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role from X-Men: First Class as Mystique, now a much bigger star than when she first featured in 2011. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen and Hugh Jackman also return as their major characters (with James McEvoy and Michael Fassbender again playing their younger selves), and the film boasts a pretty star-studded cast all around. Ellen Page, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage, Anna Paquin and more round out the group of actors, among others.

The combination of effects, actors and story (based on the Days of Future Past comic storyline from 1981) lead me to conclude this should be a very good superhero movie, and the trailer doesn't disappoint. Hopefully the full film doesn't either.
