Doug Bowser's first E3 since taking over for Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aimé started with an expected running joke: Mario's longtime arch villain, Bowser (no relation), briefly stood in for him during the company's Tuesday live-streamed Nintendo Direct.
"It's absolutely an honor," Bowser said on taking the mantle from Fils-Aimé.
It's also a good year for his new role. Nintendo presented its stacked 2019 lineup, peppering highlights, and much-anticipated titles throughout its fiscal year, which ends on March 31. It even tossed in a few surprises-often in short supply recently at the annual games conference
