Uncharted Developer Justin Richmond Leaves to Join League Of Legends

Trouble in Paradise? Uncharted Developer Leaves Naughty Dog to Join League Of Legends' Riot Games

Since the launch of the initial Uncharted, developer Naughty Dog has been bathed in Game of the Year awards and praise all around.

Unfortunately for the studio, fame comes with a price -- in this case, the fact that all of the developers at Naughty Dog are now hot commodities. Justin Richmond, the game director for the forthcoming Uncharted for PS4, left the studio today to join Riot Games, of League of Legends fame.

The announcement comes via an IGN report, which quotes Richmond on his decision to leave the company.

"I have in fact made the decision to leave Naughty Dog," Richmond told IGN. "I love the company and the people and know that they will continue to create awesome games going forward. On a happier note, after careful consideration and exploration I have joined Riot Games. There is some really innovative stuff going on here that I can't wait to be a part of."

Richmond was a part of Naughty Dog since 2008, overseeing the development of the Uncharted 2 multiplayer and heading up Uncharted 3 as game director.

This news comes on the heels of Naughty Dog writer Amy Hennig leaving the company earlier this month amid an apparent power struggle, which has to beg the question of whether there is trouble in paradise at the famed Sony studio.

"Sources claim Hennig was 'forced out' by The Last of Us' Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, and explained that Uncharted may now come under their control," IGN said in their report about Hennig's departure.

For fans of the PS4, this is concerning news, as the allure of a new Uncharted and other new IPs like The Last of Us probably sold a lot of people on Sony's system.
