Genesect, the Bug/Steel-type Mythical Pokemon returns to Pokemon Go as part of its 5-Star Raids, but this time, it has the Shock Drive installed in its backpack, making it capable to do Electric-type attacks.

The Paleozoic Pokemon will be in the said Raids starting January 15th at 10:00 AM, local time, until January 24th at 10:00 AM, local time. If the Trainers in the augmented reality open-world mobile game are lucky enough at that time, they might encounter, and catch, its Shiny Version.

Weakness, Counters

In order to catch the Shock Drive Genesect during the 5-Star Raids, they need to understand first what are its weaknesses, as well as what Pokemon counters they need to have in their Pokemon Go team. As mentioned earlier, is a Bug/Steel dual-type Mythical Pokemon that can do Electric-type Attacks.

According to a chart made by Eurogamer, Bug-types are weak against Flying, Rock, and Fire-type Pokemon Quick and Charged Moves. On the other hand, Steel-type Pokemon are also weak to Fire-type moves, as well as Fighting and Ground-types.

Because of these facts alone, Trainers can now generate a best team of counters that they bring while facing Shock Drive Genesect during the 5-Star Raids.

However, they must keep in mind that considering that the Pokemon can now attack with Electric-type moves, they might consider not adding in Flying-type Pokemon, which are all weak to said type.

For the Fire-types, according to FTW, they can consider adding in Charizard with its Fire Spin and Blast Burn moves, as well as its Mega Charizard X Evolution, as well as Reshiram (Fire Fang, Overheat), Houndoom (Fire Fang, Flamethrower), Darmantian (Fire Fang, Overheat) and Heatran (Fire Spin, Flamethrower).

They can also add in either Emboar (Ember, Blast Burn), Flareon (Fire Spin, Overheat), Typhlosion (Incinerate, Blast Burn), Magmortar (Fire Spin, Fire Punch) in the team, or Victini (Quick Attack, V Create).

Other Fire-type Pokemon that they can include in their Pokemon Go 5-Star Raid team for Shock Drive Genesect, according to Pokebattler.com, are Entei (Fire Fang, Overheat), Arcanine (Fire Fang, Flamethrower), Blaziken (Fire Spin, Blast Burn), and Salamence (Fire Fang, Fire Blast).

Aside from them, they can also include Pyrorar (Fire Fang, Overheat), Delphox (Fire Spin, Flamethrower), and Ninetales (Fire Spin, Weather Ball - Fire).

Best Movesets

Once they caught it after encountering it, they will need to know the right moveset for Shock Drive Genesect to use in situations such as player-versus-player (PvP) battles and Gym Raids in Pokemon Go.

According to Gameinfo.io, they can consider the combination of Metal Claw and Magnet Bomb, both of which are Steel-type Pokemon moves, because of their highest total damager per second (DPS).

For its Quick Move, aside from Metal Claw, they can also consider Fury Cutter, a Bug-type Pokemon move, while for its Charged Move, they can also add either X-Scissor (Bug), Zap Cannon (Electric), or Techno Blast (Water), which the Pokemon could learn after being caught during the said schedule.

Zap Cannon, according to Gamesradar, can be a helpful Charged Move because it can deal major damage against Water and Flying-type Pokemon.
