The Middle East and North American Esports organization Gamers Galaxy Esports is compering Dota 2's first-ever Local Area Network (LAN) tournament, Gamers Galaxy Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022, since the pandemic in 2020.

The prize pool of the said tournament amounts up to $272,200 (1 million AED) to be targeted by the Top ten Dota 2 esports teams worldwide.

In an article by Dexter Tan Guan Hao in One Esports, it has been mentioned that the tournament will run today, Mar. 2 to 6.

Despite the slow return to the conventional face-to-face setup with audiences' chants and jeers every in-game clash forms, it has also been announced that the tournament venue in Dubai Studio City will not host any audience in accordance with health and security measures.

The participating teams are Nigma Galaxy, Fnatic, Team Spirit, Virtus.pro, Team Secret, Nigma Galaxy SEA, OG, Tundra Esports, TSM FTX, and BOOM Esports.

Additional information from Guan Hao's writing has been noted that the teams will face each other in a 1-game round-robin matchup per group. The ten teams will be grouped into 2.

Just like any other tournament, this preliminary faceoff will determine the team's position in the bracketing of the playoffs. The top two teams of their respective groups will gain an easy crack at the upper bracket. Meanwhile, after completing the round-robin, the bottommost teams will exit the tournament posthaste; meanwhile, a best-of-three matchup will determine who will remain in the tournament between the third and fourth-seeded teams.

The tournament will showcase how the professional field act according to the new Dota 2.7.31 patch; will there be cheesy strategies, new meta, or even insane unprecedented pickings or bans? It's up for analysis in this tournament.

This tournament also may orchestrate the revenge plot of The International 8 and 9 champions OG Esports for its shutdown experience in the recently-concluded The International 10 where Team Spirit sizzled quite late.

Is this tournament tantamount to TI? According to Statista's statistical findings on Dota 2's The International viewership, TI 8, TI 9, and TI 10 respectively reached 1.21 million, 1.97, and 2.74 views. If ever the now-commencing tournament surpasses these records, the platform it had created where somewhat at par with Dota 2's professional play.

Moreover, the prize pool alone showed how lopsided the arising comparison was to question further the difference between the TI and Gamer Galaxy's Invitational event.

In another Statista's findings, Gamers Galaxy's event prize pool at the moment was three to five times smaller than The Internationa's prize pool in 2011--this is the lowest point graphed by Statista, amounting up to 1.6 million dollars. 2021's prize pool stashed a staggering 40.02 million dollar reward of the champion while on 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, and 2014, portrayed the ladder increase in their respective amount of 10.93 million, 18.43 million, 20.77 million, 24.69 million, 25.53 million, and 34.33 million all in USD currency too.

Dota 2 is a globally played Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game that was first released in 2013; it was a sequel game of its predecessor games such as Defense of the Ancients or Dota 1 or its variants - Warcraft III and Frozen Throne III.
