How Fans Can Vote

According to a report by Channel News Asia (CNA), the induction is set to take place on May 5. There are a total of 12 finalists and the games that will make it to the Hall of Fame will be decided on by the vote of an international committee as well as the public.

Nintendo Everything says in its report that "fans will be able to vote for their favorite here between March 17 and March 24 as part of the 'Player's Choice' ballot."

The top three games voted for by the public will form one ballot. The weight of the public vote will be equal to that of one judge from the committee. Members of the committee are members as well as scholars who have a background in video game history.

Hall of Fame Inductees for 2021

Last year, four games were inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame.

First on the list is Animal Crossing. Released by Nintendo in 2001, the game involves players taking control of a character who just moved into a new town. The player can complete activities, interact with villagers, and even collect objects.

The next inductee for 2021 is Microsoft Flight Simulator. The game was first released in 1982 and, as its name suggests, players can enjoy "endless hours of game play by providing highly realistic but intuitive recreations of real-life airplanes," according to The Strong Museum

The third inductee for last year's Hall of Fame is the real-time strategy game StarCraft. Now a highly successful franchise, the first installment in the series was released by Blizzard Entertainment in 1998. The story of the game focuses on three species that are battling each other for dominance: the exiled humans known Terrans, insectoid aliens known as Zergs, and humanoid species called Protoss.

Last and certainly not the least, the 1985 video game Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, which is part of the Carmen Sandiego series. The player takes on the role of a detective whose goal is to find members of an organization called V.I.L.E. Eventually, the player will have to look for the leader herself, Carmen Sandiego.
