Latest 'Pokemon Scarlet and Violet' Leak Could Hint on New Mechanics | Temporary Third Typings Now on the Way?

"Pokemon Scarlet and Violet" is the latest mainline Pokemon game that is currently making sounds across the communities.

Earlier, we saw its trailer featuring the three new starters: Fuecoco, Sprigatito, and Quaxly. However, there's no mention yet about their next evolutions and typings.

According to the latest rumor, a prominent Pokemon game leaker recently spat out some details about the upcoming Gen 9 game. The tipster might have already hinted at the possibility of introducing a third typing in the game.

'Pokemon Scarlet and Violet' Potential Gimmick

In a YouTube video uploaded by popular content creator aDrive, a trusted leaker known as Riddler Khu has another "riddle" for the puzzled fans. The latest revelation could open a lot of doors for the new Pokemon game.

Previously, we have seen some cool mechanics in the past generation games such as "Pokemon X and Y" and "Pokemon Sword and Shield." The former versions were the first Pokemon games to introduce the Mega Evolutions, while the latter presented Dynamax/Gigantamax.

Of course, as Pokemon fans, we always look forward to what new gimmick would be introduced in the game. In "Pokemon Sun and Moon," we have witnessed the beauty of Z-moves. The only question left for the fans is what new mechanics will "Pokemon Scarlet and Violet" bring to them?

Going back to Riddler Khu's cryptic post, the leak could point out some mysterious mechanics in the game that fans would not expect. From his post, there was a special type of symbol representing the first Titan, the codename of Gen 9.

Some people believe that it has something to do with a new type of Pokemon. Most probably, they could now adopt a third type other than being a dual-type creature.

'Permanent Third Type' Unlikely to Happen

Although we know that having a third typing is cool for a Pokemon, we could not get rid of the fact that it will be hard to execute. Most importantly, having permanent access to this perk can ruin some elements in the game.

With regards to this rumor, we might see it this year, but it could come just temporarily. That's something that is taken from a book of Mega Evolution.

There might be some crystals that will help us achieve the third typing during the battle. This could be compared to the plates that allow Arceus to transform from one form to another.

Admit it or not, a third type might not be as appealing as Gigantamax or Mega Evolution, but it's still a huge game-changer in some way. It would be amazing to see that a Pokemon could have an answer to its previous weakness. It fits the narrative of expanding the coverage for other types.

Let's say Quaxly's stage 2 evolution will be water/fighting. Then its third-typing will be a dark type. This alone could allow it to stand a fight against Psychic attacks because of the new dark typing.

Since these are just early speculations, we do not know if Khu's post is accurate for "Pokemon Scarlet and Violet." Maybe there's another meaning for this that we might further learn this upcoming summer.
