'Half Life: Alyx' New Mod: Name, Trailer, and Everything Else You Need to Know

Mod projects for Half-Life: Alyx have always been impressed audiences ever since modding tools became available for the game. An upcoming mod, called Half Life: Alyx Levitation, raises the bar of mod-making with its slick visuals and adrenaline-pumping gameplay. A stunning new trailer was released last Sunday on Corey Laddo's Youtube channel.

The mod will be a custom campaign, still set in the Half-Life universe. It follows Alyx as she fights the aliens known as Combine with the help of a pair of rebels named Maya and Barry. After discovering a floating building in Sector X, the two seem to have gone rogue.

'Half-Life: Alyx Levitation' Mod is a Stunning Piece of Work

Half-Life: Alyx Levitation is a project by source filmmaker and animator Corey Laddo and level designer Shawn Snelling. The trailer alone is a creative piece of work and is so convincing that it could easily be mistaken for an official release. The mod campaign promises players 4-5 hours of action and horror. The design for the floating building seems to be inspired by concept art for Zona, a Spanish television series based on Roadside Picnic.

Since mods' release, designers have enjoyed recreating the game with various elements such as lightsabers and dinosaurs. Modders have also designed multiplayer modes, including one where a player is a useless floating robot. Others have redesigned the game so it can be played even without a VR headset.

Half-Life: Alyx Levitation is currently planned for release on the Steam Workshop and will be available in the third quarter of 2022. It will be free of charge and contain about four to five hours of action-packed gaming that even the average player will enjoy.

Half-Life: Alix is Valve's follow-up to the Half-Life series, about 15 years since the release of Half-Life 2. It acts as a prequel to the series, taking place five years prior to the events of Half-Life 2. The player takes on the role of Alyx Vance, humanity's last hope in the fight against the vicious alien race known as the Combine.

The game makes use of virtual reality and allows players to interact with their environments. The gameplay makes use of world exploration, puzzle-solving, and immersive combat.

The prequel game received critical acclaim and was well-received by Half-Life fans. While there were initial complaints about the game being VR-oriented, this did not stop fans from enjoying the new platform and exploring the possibilities of the game and its story through mods.

Will There Be a Half-Life: Alyx Sequel?

Along with the release of mods, rumors of a follow-up sequel have surfaced. According to Youtuber Tyler Vicker, there were new leaks that seemingly offer new information on a follow-up to Half-Life: Alyx, as well as a Source 2 port for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and a new Portal paint game.

This is neither impossible nor surprising as the VR games released by Valve have been well-received. There are no official statements yet released by the company - that is why such information must be taken with a grain of salt.
