New Microsoft Xbox Division Boss Phil Spencer Plays PS4

Micrsoft's New Xbox Division Boss Phil Spencer Plays PS4

When Phil Spencer was appointed the head of Microsoft's Xbox Division last week, it was pretty well received as a good move for the company, as Spencer is a "game guy."

Well, a comment that Spencer made over at Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's podcast (and nicely transcribed by Dual Shockers) will probably be a polarizing one: he owns a PS4, and he plays it often.

"I'm playing some things, I don't mind saying, on my PlayStation 4," Spencer said on the pod. "You know like Resogun, I've gone back to playing it, and I really try to look what they're doing, how their system is working... because I learn from a ton of different places, and for me it's an important part of what we're doing... Strider... Yeah... but right now a lot of my time is spent on fall games."

I could see where some people might be like, "But he should be focusing on Xbox ONLY!" But honestly, I like the candidness from Spencer. Too much stock is put into this PS4 vs. Xbox One "war." It's nice to see that the executives of the companies are treating it more like a gentleman's rivalry more than an all-out battle royale. There's something to be said for seeing what your competition does well and trying to emulate it in some way (without blatantly ripping anything off, of course).

What do you think of Spencer's candid comments about playing PS4? Should he just be sitting playing Titanfall all day instead of spending his time playing the competition?
