According to a report by Eurogamer, the reworked service for PlayStation owners is reportedly going to include a so-called "CRT filter" for PS1 games. But that's not everything, as the service will also include different screen aspect ratios ranging from native to 4:3, 16:9, and ultrawide.

The CRT filter is said to fall within the Retro Classic theme, which is one of three total filters. The other two are Default and Modern, says Resetera user brokenswiftie who uploaded a few screenshots that they say showcases the three visual filters at work. All three screenshots came from the classic PS1 game Oddworld.

You can check out the images for yourself on the provided Resetera link. But be warned that you have to zoom in to see the differences, as mentioned by brokenswiftie. If you zoom in on the Retro Classic filter, you can definitely see the lines that were a characteristic of old CRT TVs from the 90s - the era when the original PlayStation console came out.

The Default and Modern filters, on the other hand, don't seem to have any noticeable difference even if you zoom in.

But while these images point to a potentially great option for retro gamers, the option itself is still now available for the North American market - yet. It seems that Malaysia is the first one to get this feature, though only one game as of this writing supports it: Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey.

One thing that is for certain is that Sony will indeed include classic PS1 games for all subscribers to the Premium tier. So if you want to try out the CRT filter for yourself, you'll need to fork over $17.99 (monthly), $49.99 (quarterly), or $119.99 (yearly). It is not cheap, but hey! Free games from the console that so many people's paths to gaming as a lifelong hobby.

Sony announced the revamped PS Plus as PlayStation's answer to Xbox Game Pass, although it remains to be seen whether it will be successful.

So which games will be able to potentially get that retro CRT filter? Well, the library isn't as stocked as that of the PS5, PS4, PS3, PS2 (and even PSP) games, but all titles included in the PS1 library are absolute classics in their own right.

As shared in reports from GameInformer and Eurogamer, here are the PS1 classics you could visit the memory lane with:

  • Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey

  • Ape Escape

  • IQ Intelligent Qube

  • Hot Shots Goldf

  • Jumping Flash!

  • Tekken 2

  • Mr. Driller

  • Syphon Filter

  • Worms Armageddon

  • Worms World Party

It may not look like much now, but the service is designed to add new content at regular intervals. So you can expect more games to be added to this list soon.
