Playstation Reveals That Horizon Zero Dawn, God Of War TV Shows Are In The Works

Playstation Announces A Horizon Zero Dawn And God Of War TV Series In The Works

A couple of new announcements from PlayStation are making at the parent that they want to dominate more than just video games.

In a report by GamesRadar, it was revealed that the gaming giant is planning a Horizon Zero Dawn TV show to release on Netflix, alongside a God Of War TV series which is going the way of Amazon. The two shows as per the report are already in development.

Horizon and God Of War were revealed at a Sony business briefing headed by company president Jim Ryan. He was asked in a Q&A and he revealed it outright. But aside from that, he didn't reveal any other information about the two shows.

The original report comes from Press Start Australia. It was caught by a Resetera user who was watching the live stream. However, there were no indications that the live screen has a recording somewhere that would help further corroborate the information. Nevertheless, this is a not-so-surprising move from Sony and PlayStation, considering they're investing millions of millions of dollars into creating live-action media like movies and TV series the other new subsidiary Playstation Productions.

The Horizon Zero Dawn Netflix series and the God Of War TV series on Amazon are joined by a Gran Turismo series that still doesn't have a streaming platform to release on as of this writing. Together, the three shows join PlayStation's most recent live-action media in HBO's The Last Of Us (which stars The Mandalorian's Pedro Pascal and Game of Thrones' Bella Ramsey) and the Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.

It seems to be that the 3 shows are still in early development, as there are no hints as to who is directing or starring in them. Perhaps PlayStation/Sony are going to reveal the casting and the director/s soon. But for now, all that fans can do is wait.

It is also worth noting that sony's recent acquisition of former Halo developer Bungie is not about gaming per se, but about locking up the studio's IPs to further add to its roster of live-action media (via PCGamer).

Horizon Zero Dawn And God Of War Casting: Who Should Play Aloy And Kratos?

Before they step into live-action territory, the two characters of PlayStation's two biggest exclusives already had actors that portrayed them. Ashly Burch served as the voice of Aloy in the Horizon games, with the face model being Dutch actress Hannah Hoekstra. As for Kratos, he was voiced by Christopher Judge - though it's not clear who served as the face model for the 2018 version, if there ever was a face model at all.

One might want to just cast Hoekstra as Aloy in the Netflix series, since she is literally the face model for the character. But some other fans have their eyes on another, as per the website MyCast: Sophie Turner, who played Sansa Stark in HBO's Game of Thrones.

As for Kratos, Looper says there are a few great fits. Stephen DeKnight, the director of the film Pacific Rim Uprising, has his eyes set on Guardians Of The Galaxy actor and former WWE superstar Dave Bautista playing the titular God Of War.

It is worth noting though, that these are just fan castings for the two tv series, and are not confirmed in any way at all. So take these suggestions with a grain of salt.
