The Date For Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2's Beta May Have Been Leaked By Amazon

There's no official date yet for the upcoming Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta, but perhaps Amazon has already leaked it - albeit indirectly.

According to GameRant, a certain Amazon listing for the cross-gen Modern Warfare 2 bundle says that anyone who pre-orders by August 15th will get early access to the beta. The listing also reiterated that unlock codes will be sent on that very day. That is, however, assuming that this information is accurate.

That's because while the pre-order listings for Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 are still up, the blurb regarding the beta date has been taken down by Amazon. It might have been just an honest mistake by the person uploading the listing into the storefront, but by then it was too late: numerous screenshots are already posted online.

As of this writing, developer Infinity Ward or Activision Blizzard hasn't issued a statement denying or confirming the leak. But a theoretical Modern Warfare 2 open beta date of August 15th would be actually good timing, considering the game is scheduled to release on October 28th. For now, though, you'll need to wait for an official confirmation as to when exactly the beta will start for all platforms.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was revealed with much fanfare for the first time around a week before the time of this writing. Its gameplay reveal trailer has already earned over 27.7 million views and 411K likes at the time of this writing, and the comments were fairly positive - something that the franchise hasn't seen much in recent years due to underwhelming releases.

Activision Blizzard has confirmed, however, that anybody who indeed pre-orders the game will have access to the Modern Warfare 2 beta (via the Call Of Duty website). As for the date, they only mentioned that specific timings will be announced "closer to the start of the beta," which really doesn't say much.

How To Join The Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta

As previously mentioned, the simplest method of getting into the open beta is pre-ordering the game. Pre-orders are already open at every major retailer (including Amazon), though be prepared because the game will now cost $70 across all platforms. Yes, that includes even last-gen consoles in the PS4 and Xbox One (via ComicBook.com).

Once you've completed your pre-order, you will get a 13-character early access Beta code which you can redeem at callofduty.com/betaredeem. Input your code there when it gets sent into your email. However, take note that access codes are only required if you pre-ordered from a participating retailer. But if you got your copy via Battle.net, PlayStation Store, or Microsoft Store, you're automatically in.

You will now have to play the waiting game once you've reserved your spot in the Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 open beta. An early access beta token will be sent to your email before the beta itself starts, so keep a close eye on your inbox!
