There are video games where your enemies come in the form of fellow humans or human-like creatures. Other video games feature enemies that come in the form of animals, such as larger-than-life dinosaurs and vicious sharks.
Some games pit you against both human and animal enemies.
One such game happens to be today's #SteamSpotlight feature and it is none other than A Plague Tale: Innocence.

Developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Entertainment, A Plague Tale: Innocence was released on May 15, 2019.
The game follows the tale of two young siblings, Amicia de Rune and her younger brother Hugo, with the player controlling Amicia. The two oprhaned siblings' story is set during the Hundre Years' War, an actual series of armed conflicts between France and England that took place from 1337 to 1453.
A Plague Tale: Innocence is set in France and focuses on Amicia and Hugo's escape from the soldiers of the French Inquisition as well as the rats spreading the Black Plague, another historical event that is actually considered as the worst pandemic in world history.
As you can probably already tell, the game is story rich. "As they struggle to survive against overwhelming odds, they will fight to find purpose in this brutal, unforgiving world," the game's official website says of what is to come for the young siblings.

Amicia, Hugo, the Inquisition, and the Rats
Now let us focus on the four that will feature heavily in the game.
The Steam page of A Plague Tale: Innocence describes Amicia is a 15-year-old strong and independent young woman who has actually had little contact with her younger brother prior to the events of the game. Hugo, on the other hand, is a frail boy who is only five years old and has an unknown disease.
Then we have the enemies of Amicia and Hugo. First up is the Inquisition, who are out to "pursue the De Rune children for unknown reasons." Second, there are the rats that can somehow be slowed down by the light of flame.

A Plague Tale: Innocence has more than 37,000 user reviews on Steam as of press time. These reviews are generally described as "Very Positive by the platform.
A Steam user who goes by the handle Kimano says in a review that the game is "atmospheric storytelling at its best."
Another Steam user who goes by the handle Cloud calls the game a "fantastic cinematic journey" and praises its narration, story, art style, and visuals.
