For gamers, there are numerous gaming platforms available. We have the popular ones including the PC, gaming consoles, and the newest entry, mobile phones. Mobile gaming wasn't popular a few years ago as it is today and it has become so popular that some even say that it is taking over the world.

Some surveys have shown that most people now prefer mobile as their first choice for gaming. Can mobile phones really take over the gaming world and become the world's most popular platform? Well, this is something that we have discussed below.

Everyone Owns A Mobile Phone

This is the story of every household where everyone owns a mobile phone. Some people can say that everyone owns a PC too but it is a bit argumentative since people have now started to ditch computers for mobile phones.

What's even surprising is that the number of people who own gaming consoles is very low and with powerful PCs around, they are going to be extinct, unless they come up with a unique and powerful feature (which seems unlikely).

Due to the increasing popularity of mobile gaming and the huge number of people who have mobile phones, it looks like mobile gaming will soon take over the world and the developers are well aware of this fact. Developers are bringing new titles to mobile phones to increase their revenue and this is making things hard for PC and Consoles.

Mobile Phones Are Cheap

Another point in favor of mobile gaming is that mobile phones are dirt cheap. Yes, using the word "dirt cheap" might seem a bit too exaggerated since there are mobile phones available for well above $1000 but the thing is that there are mobile phones available in every price range. There are low-end mobile phones, mid-range mobile phones, and high-end mobile phones. There is a mobile phone available for every price range and most of these are able to run casual games without any problem.

With gaming PCs or consoles, that is not the case. You have to spend a lot on buying a new gaming PC or a new gaming console and then buy new gaming titles just so you can play them, whereas, you can get a great mobile for a fraction of what a computer costs. This has allowed people to save money while at the same time enjoying some of the best games available on the market.

Mobile Games Are Free

The thing about general consumers is that they enjoy free things. Whether it is a free sandwich through the McDVoice program, a free game, or a way to win a free cash prize through KrogerFeedback,  general consumers like free things. Unfortunately, for gaming consoles such as Xbox and PlayStation and PCs, you have to purchase different games in order to play them and these gaming titles can be very expensive, especially if you buy them soon after release.

For mobile gaming, this is not the scenario. The majority of the games that you can find on app stores are available for free and these games usually have in-app purchases through which developers make their profit. Even if these games aren't free, they are priced to be incredibly cheap and most of the paid mobile games are under $5.

Mobile Phones Are Getting Powerful

Most people consider computers to be pretty powerful, which is true but we shouldn't forget that mobile technology is making leaps in terms of performance. Mobile phones are getting more and more powerful every year. We are seeing some of the best and most powerful mobile chipsets being made in recent years that are power-efficient too and can run graphic-intensive games without any hurdle.

So this point that the gamers had about gaming PCs being powerful, well, that will soon mean nothing considering how mobile technology is evolving.

Stigma Around Mobile Gaming

While all of the above discussion is in favor of mobile gaming, there is a stigma around mobile gaming. An average gamer would be fine playing a few games on his phone in leisure time as he wouldn't have to spend any money and he can enjoy it too. But people that call themselves "real gamers" don't even consider playing mobile games.

In the gaming industry, there is a stigma around mobile gaming that most people don't consider them to be on the same level as a PC or console due to which most gamers don't take mobile gaming seriously. And even if mobile gaming was to conquer the world, it would require the stigma to disappear before mobile gamers can call themselves proper gamers.

Mobile Phones Are Small

Since mobile phones are small, compact, and portable, they are preferred by many people but they also have a problem that the screen is small and it can cause serious eye strain issues. If someone has weak eyesight or any other eye disorders then he should stay away from mobile gaming as it would further damage his eyes.

It is surprising to see how mobile technology made major leaps and how mobile gaming became popular in just a few years. The answer to the question of whether mobile gaming will take over the gaming world or not is that it will continue to dominate like it is doing but it won't completely overtake PC and console gaming.
