Here Are Some Games Like Stray If You Just Finished Playing

Games Like Stray: Four Games To Check Out After You're Done Playing

Look, Stray is a darn good game. We know it, a lot of other reviewers know it. We at GameNGuide gave it a 9.5 out of 10, and that's not due to the cat being all cutesy. So we can't fault you for wanting to play something like it after you yourself just finished it.

Good thuing is you're here on this list. In here, you will learn of a few other games like Stray to play after finishing Annapurna and BlueTwelve Studios' short but sweet adventure. So without further ado, let's begin.

Tokyo Jungle

Released for the PlayStation 3 and the PS Vita back in June 2012, this is perhaps the absolute closest to Stray on this list. Tokyo Jungle is billed as a survival game set in a post-apocalyptic version of the Japanese capital, where humans have vanished into thin air.

In it, you control a lot of different animals that aren't anthropomorphized, writes GameRant. As an ordinary dog, cat, or any other animal, you will be tasked to survive in a very hostile world where you'll also need to monitor vital things like your hunger and stamina. It's more or less the same principle as that of Stray - the only difference is you don't just play as one cat.

IGN's review of this game was quite positive. They gave it an 8 out of 10, praising it for its surprisingly fun gameplay, unique premise, and excellent replay value. What's even better is that you can actually play this game right now if you're a member of PS Plus Premium, since it's included in its official PS3 game list as of this writing (thanks, Eurogamer).

Spirit Of The North

Another of these games like Stray that are the closest to the current fan-favorite platformer, Spirit Of The North puts you in the paws of a magical fox in a game world inspired by the vistas of Iceland. According to The Gamer, the game is entirely devoid of any dialogue (even Stray has that in spades), but it's still chock full of mystery and intrigue that just begs to be discovered.

You might've seen a few trailers for Spirit Of The North and think, "oh, it's like Death Stranding but with a fox." No, it's not. It's not as well-known as Stray, but it has the same puzzle-platforming action that made the latter a big hit. Think of this as actually Stray, but it is set in nature and not in a crumbling, decrepit underground city.

Biomutant

We're going to go from the typical "games like Stray" and take it a few notches higher with this one. Biomutant is an open-world, action RPG starring a mutant, cat-like animal that wields guns and knows martial arts. It's a post-apocalyptic future devoid of humans once again, and it shines in terms of visuals and premise.

However, the game wasn't reviewed as well as some hoped. PC Gamer only gave it a mediocre 60 out of 100 score. In their review, they mentioned how the game is still quite enjoyable despite its shortcomings (of which they enumerated plenty). But who knows ? Maybe you'll have way more fun than they did with it.

Catlateral Damage

We're closing off our games like Stray list with another feline-headlined game. But instead of being a cute, curious cat just trying to survive in a desolate world full of robots, the protagonist of Catlateral Damage has one goal: to destroy as much stuff as you can. Sure, the cell-shaded cat still looks cute, but this game will let you play out the empirical truth: that cats are evil and they're going to kill us all (don't crucify us, cat lovers).

In Catlateral Damage, your task is to just destroy everything including procedurally generated houses, so many bottles, scratch curtains, and smash the precious keepsakes of your humans. The game sits at a Very Positive rating on Steam right now, so you best get to it and be the most annoying pet cat possible. Plus, the game is just filled with so much cat puns, we can't even.
