This God Of War Actor Pre-Recorded Some Moves Before Auditioning To Mocap Kratos

God Of War Actor/YouTuber Shares Video Of Moves He Used For Kratos

A God Of War actor who helped do the mocap for Kratos recently uploaded a rather interesting video recently, showcasing a few moves that may or may have not made it into the final game.

In the video, YouTuber/stuntman/martial artist Eric Jacobus revealed that before he signed on as one of the mocap artists for Kratos in God Of War, he sent the team at Santa Monica a video showcasing a series of combat moves. As reported by PlayStation Lifestyle, Jacobus created his own moveset for the character before he even officially auditioned, which may have landed him the job before things even began.

Here is the full five-minute video of the God Of War actor demonstrating some armed and unarmed moves:

As you can see in the video, it's not impossible to think that a good chunk of the moves he performed in it made it into the game. There were flurries of high and medium-height punches, the iconic Sparta kicks, and of course, the axe combos which he performed on a combat dummy. Heck, there was even a dismemberment attack that saw him use an enemy's arm as a melee weapon, though this obviously didn't make it into the final game.

Jacobus said that he was actually invited by Santa Monica to audition for God Of War, after the team saw his Tekken IRL videos on YouTube in 2016. Eventually, he landed the job and performed alongside other mocap actors, which included Joseph Gatt, Chris Jai Alex, and the late former WWE star Shad Gaspard.

But it won't be just Kratos that the aforementioned YouTuber-turned God Of War actor would do performance capture for. He also did some for Odin's son Baldur, as well as Thor's sons Magni and Modi. And for his work helping mocap Kratos in God Of War (main actor Christopher Judge did the voice, non-combat moves, and face capture), Jacobus has since returned for God Of War Ragnarok.

Ragnarok is scheduled to release worldwide exclusively to the PS4 and PS5 on November 9th.

God Of War Ragnarok News

We're only a few months out from Ragnarok's launch, and it's safe to say that excitement for the continuation of Kratos' Norse saga is at an all-time high. With this in mind, PlayStation has actually given fans a fair warning about potential spoilers, which could leak onto social media platforms.

According to Comic Book, the warning comes from renowned leaker Nick Baker who's gotten his hands on early leaked footage from The Last Of Us Part 1 before. Baker says he might be getting some footage from Ragnarok that may or may not contain spoilers for the game's story, so fans beware.

If you're looking to play Ragnarok on PS5, however, you have a protective layer. Your console has a dedicated Spoiler Warning setting that will keep you from seeing anything you're not supposed to online. You can choose to  make it include only those spoilers flagged by devs, or literally everything. Here's how to set it up:

And try to stay away from looking at these leaks, of course, even if you yourself is so darn excited.
