The Last Of Us Star Bella Ramsey Says Fans Will Love The Show

Bella Ramsey Is Pretty Confident About HBO's The Last Of Us

If you ask The Last Of Us star Bella Ramsey about the live action adaptation of the famed game that she's a part of, she doesn't lack for confidence about its chances to succeed.

The young actress firmly believes that people are going to love the show, as reported by Push Square. In an interview with She Knows, Ramsey talked about her acting career featuring stints in The Tudors and another massively popular HBO series in Game Of Thrones. She mentioned the Last Of Us TV show briefly, mentioning how there's a lot of pressure from dedicated fans of the games - but believes that the show is going to be just alright.

"I think people are going to love it. I know there were people worried about it, of course. When something is so precious to you as a viewer - as a gamer - of course you're going to be worried about the adaptation. But honestly, I think people are going to love it. It very much follows the emotional beats of the game, and it's very respectful of the game and honors the game."

However, Ramsey also did say that the Last Of Us TV show is not going to be a word-for-word retelling of the story of the original 2013 game. She mentioned how the series is going to explore different areas that weren't tackled in the game, though she didn't mention which areas these would be, exactly.

Her confidence in the project echoes the same thoughts her co-star Pedro Pascal, who plays the Joel to her Ellie. According to him, he has "absolutely no doubts that the series will live up to the games and not disappoint both long-time fans and newcomers alike.

So, Joel and Ellie are pretty confident about HBO's The Last Of Us live-action adaptation. And if their claims turn out to be right, then fans of Naughty Dog's post-apocalyptic IP are going to have a relatively way better time than fans of another video game franchise: Halo.

The Halo TV show, while already confirmed to be separate from the games' canon, is so often maligned due to how far it has deviated from its source material. So HBO's The Last Of Us has some pretty high expectations weighing down on it. If it fails, then it's not going to be a good look at Naughty Dog, HBO, and PlayStation in general.

More Details About HBO's The Last Of Us

There's still no definitive release date for the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the award-winning video game franchise. But despite that, things are going splendidly for the entire production.

Bella Ramsey's interview comes shortly after the entire production has wrapped up filming just last June. As reported by Collider, the wrap-up was announced by series writer Craig Mazin (who also worked on another HBO series, Chernobyl). This means that the 10-episode series is now deep into post-production, and that perhaps an actual teaser or full trailer is on the horizon later in the year.

A trailer or teaser will be the first actual footage of the show that fans will get, after the numerous on-set leaks and official stills were revealed. The latest still was shown off during this year's Summer Game Fest, offering fans the closest look at Pedro Pascal's Joel and Bella Ramsey's Ellie in action - hiding from a Clicker, perhaps.
