Marvel's Midnight Suns Is Delayed To Next Year

Lengthen Your Patience As You Wait For Marvel's Midnight Suns

If you've been patiently waiting for Marvel's Midnight Suns to come this year, we got bad news for you.

As reported by Game Informer, the game has been delayed to the 2023 fiscal year, which means it's going to launch before March 31st of next year. So the original October 7th release date is now no more. But that's the only new piece of information about the Marvel's Midnight Suns release date, all of which were revealed in a recent earnings report from Take-Two (the parent company of 2K Games, which is in turn the parent company of Midnight Suns dev Firaxis).

Within the projected release window, Midnight Suns is expected to hit next-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S) and PC first. Its last-gen ports (PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch), while not cancelled, are expected to come sometime after the initial window - though Take-Two has declined to give anything concrete.

Here is the original update from the development team at Firaxis about the current state of the game:

This is the second time that the tactical, card-based superhero game has been pushed back. It was first slated to arrive in March, then got delayed to October. But even with the two delays, the team hasn't actually stopped uploading Marvel's Midnight Suns gameplay previews on the game's official YouTube channel at least. The most recent video was uploaded just last August 7th, featuring Captain Marvel:

The game was first announced fairly recently at Gamescom 2021. It is being helmed by the same development team that made XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2. But as reported by Polygon, Marvel's Midnight Suns' gameplay mechanics will not feature anything inspired by the two aforementioned games.

Either way, the staggered platform release could be something that fans welcome with open arms. This is considering another superhero game, Gotham Knights, has had its last-gen PS4 and Xbox One ports completely scrapped. That is, until Firaxis does the same for some reason.

What Is Marvel's Midnight Suns?

This game is basically flying under the radar in the shadow of other big, highly anticipated superhero titles like Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered on PC and Gotham Knights. But it could be an exciting one nonetheless.

The tactical RPG title works as a card game, where you play using a deck of different heroes, writes PC Gamer. Marvel's Midnight Suns' gameplay also features turn-based combat in conjunction with the cardgame mechanics, which use elements from other similar games like Magic: The Gathering or Hearthstone.

As for the story, the game is set in a rather supernatural-heavy area of the wider Marvel universe. It tasks players to inhabit the role of the Hunter, an original hero created for the game. Your task is to battle Lilith, the Mother of Demons. Here is a trailer:
