The Splatoon 3 Nintendo Direct was a full 30 minutes of exciting spills and leaks about the incoming version of the family-friendly squid-ink shooter game. Here in this article, we will be inking what we have learned from the latest Nintendo Direct.

Splatton 3 will take place in Splatsville. Splatsville is a thriving city filled with a lot of wonders. The said city is located in the desert of the Splatlands. Like in the previous editions, the game features inklings and outflings, kids with fish-like colorful hair who love to shoot around slime-like splatting paint. Once again, have a break from your generic FPS game with gunshot sounds blasting your eardrum. Head on to Splatsville and win cool Turf Wars by painting the whole city green, purple, or red.

Octolings Are Joining the Splatfests as a Playable Character Soon

Like what the Direct showed us and Nintendo recently confirmed, the Octolings are playable again. According to a report from IGN, the Octolings will be fully playable alongside the inklings from the start of the game. From what we can see, the main difference between the two characters is mainly an aesthetic one in terms of their hairstyles and a few other minor visual variances. Both characters have the same features and can wear the same outfits.

There are so many new things with Splatoon 3. In the half-hour feature, we were able to see what seems like a new weapon coming to Splatsville. There we could see an inkling using a weapon that looks like a bow or a crossbow that is called a stringer that splats paints in multiple short bursts. Another new weapon coming to the game is the splatana wiper which lets the player slash arcs of paint in the air.

Splatoon 3 Also Features Improved Turf War Gameplay

One highlight of the recent Nintendo Direct is the improved Turf War gameplay. In Splatoon 3, a new technique has been introduced and it is called the Squid Surge. The Squid Surge is a cool new move that lets the player swim up in walls in a single burst. Alongside this, players can also do the Squid Roll where the players are able to jump out of the ink quickly. One bonus to these new moves is that when a player's character glows while making the said moves, they will be immune to any incoming paint attack from the enemy.

From a report from Cinelinx, battles in the Turf War will take place in a number of unique locales. Stages including Eeltail Alley, Scorch Gorge, Mincemeat Metalworks, and Undertow Spillway are exclusive to the Splatlands. Additionally, there is the brand-new Hagglefish Market, a pier that is overflowing with lively vendors.

In addition, some stages from Greater Inkopolis are back, including Mahi-Mahi Resort, Hammerhead Bridge, and the Museum d'Alfonsino. Along with the stages showcased in the presentation, there will be a total of 12 stages upon launch. Free updates after debut will include the addition of more stages.

Aside from better Turf War gameplay, many familiar NPCs are also set to return for Splatoon 3. Turf War judges Judd and Li'L Judd as well as Ammo Knights proprietor Sheldon will be back in the game. There are also new game modes, new weapons, and a trading card game!

Splatoon 3 is set to be released for the Switch on September 9 this year. You can check out the video here from Nintendo Direct for more exciting details.
