Spider-Man Remastered System Requirements - Here's What You Need To Run It Well

A Closer Look At Spider-Man System Requirements For PC

Spider-Man Remastered's system requirements on PC indicate that while you need really high-end hardware to run it with all bells and whistles, you can still get by with very modest PC specs. But what kind of specs exactly do you need to truly run the game well?

First off, here are the official Spider-Man Remastered PC system requirements, as shared by Tom's Hardware. You will see that each configuration is separated by the expected performance and resolution, as well as the expected graphical preset:

Minimum (720p, 30 FPS)

  • Very Low settings
  • GPU: NVIDIA GTX 950/AMD equivalent
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-4160/AMD equivalent
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Storage space: 75 GB HDD

Recommended (1080p, 60 FPS)

  • Medium settings
  • GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB/AMD RX 580
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-4670/AMD Ryzen 5 1600
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Storage space: 75 GB SSD

Very High, No Ray Tracing (4K, 60 FPS)

  • Very High settings
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3070/AMD RX 6800 XT
  • CPU: Intel Core i55-11400/AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Storage space: 75 GB SSD

'Amazing' Ray Tracing (1440p 60 FPS or 4K 30 FPS)

  • High settings, High ray tracing
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3070/AMD RX 6800 XT
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-11400/AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Storage space: 75 GB SSD

'Ultimate' Ray Tracing (4K 60 FPS)

  • High settings, Very High ray tracing
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3080/AMD RX 6950 XT
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-12700K/AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Storage space: 75 GB SSD

As you can see there, the super-fancy CPU and GPU combos are only reserved for when you want to turn on ray tracing or run the game at resolutions beyond 1080p. The recommended specs are very reachable for most people and is likely intended to simulate the visuals and performance of the original PS4 and PS4 Pro versions.

For the lowest-end hardware, we probably have never seen specs this low for a major triple-A release. Basically, if you have a PC that was built within the last 8 years or so, then you're fine. Just don't expect to turn up the graphics settings to Medium when you have really old hardware.

All in all, Insomniac Games' decision to hand over the porting duties to Nixxes proved to be an excellent choice. The PC port is within reach of just about anybody who wants to play Spider-Man on PC.

Spider-Man's System Requirements Tested

IGN recently got their hands on an early review copy of Spider-Man on PC, which allowed them to test different hardware configurations to see just how the game runs on a variety of combinations. Here is their analysis video, where they tested the game primarily running on 1440p and 4K both with ray tracing turned on and off:

The analysis goes into excruciating detail when describing the game's graphical settings, but the main gist is this. To at least match the visual quality and performance of the game on PS5, here are the "updated" Spider-Man Remastered system requirements to do just that:

Recommended PS5-Equivalent Settings (Native 4K 60 FPS, Ray Tracing On)

  • Max settings, High ray tracing
  • GPU: AMD RX 6700 non-XT or NVIDIA equivalent
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 or newer, or Intel equivalent
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Storage space: 75 GB SSD

Take note that these hardware is what you need if you want to play in NATIVE 4K at 60 FPS, meaning there's no DLSS or FSR turned on here. But when it comes to playing at upscaled 4K via DLSS or FSR, Spider-Man Remastered's system requirements will vary. But IGN's findings did reveal that the game is a little CPU-bound right now pre-patch, so having a faster CPU would mean better performance - for now.

Lower-end hardware than the 6700 XT or the RTX 3070 (i.e. the 6600 XT/6600 or the RTX 3060) will still work well with Spider-Man's PC port, provided that you run it at 1440p with DLSS or FSR enabled. Furthermore, turning off ray tracing can basically double the game's performance across all hardware configurations. Considering it might be a bit hard for the normal person to even discern ray tracing when it's turned on, perhaps you're fine with turning this setting off to enjoy smooth frame rates all throughout.
