Borderlands The Pre-Sequel Officially Revealed, Offers Low-Gravity Gunfights and Four New Characters [IMAGES, VIDEO]

Well look at that! The rumor from a couple days ago turned out to be quite true. Gearbox Software just sent over this press release for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, a game that will take place between the events of Borderlands and Borderlands 2 and star an entirely new cast of four characters. They shared these images and developer overview video for us to check out how far along they are- it turns out that this game is coming out later this year!

As rumored, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will focus on Handsome Jack's rise to power, as your four characters work for him to achieve his goals. In doing so you'll explore Pandora's moon and face the kind of low-gravity gunfights that you'd expect in the environment, allowing you to fling your enemies high in the air with the greatest of ease. You'll be able to jump high in the air and even ground pound your enemies, which seems like it could be a ton of fun, especially when combined with the new laser and Cryo guns. However, there will also be no atmosphere to breathe at parts, so you'll have to keep stocked with O2 to stay alive. Hopefully that part is used sparingly so it doesn't become more of an annoyance than anything.

"Gearbox has entrusted 2K Australia with the co-development of their award-winning franchise and we are committed to delivering an all-new shoot 'n' loot experience that fans will love," concluded Tony Lawrence, general manager of 2K Australia. "Fans will see for themselves at PAX East that there's nothing quite like moon jumping in a low-gravity gunfight, completely freezing a moon bandit with one of the new Cryo weapons, and then shattering him into little pieces that float off into space. It's pretty epic."

Just as assumed, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be released available worldwide in fall 2014 on the Xbox 360, PS3, and Windows PC. To the moon, Claptrap!
