Players who are on the fence if they should buy The Last of Us Part II Remastered or not can look at the new trailer released by developer Naughty Dog recently and decide from there. The new trailer showcases what players can expect in the new "No Return Mode."

Point of No Return

No Return Mode is a new roguelike survival game mode that will be introduced in The Last of Us Part II Remastered. The idea behind this new game mode is that players should do their best to survive with whatever they have. If they die, they have to start over, albeit with a completely different loadout on each new run.

If that is not hard enough, No Return Mode also employs unique gameplay modifiers that provide players with challenges that will catch them off guard. Players who have played the original TLOU2 religiously might be in for a rude awakening!

In addition, players can choose previously non-playable characters in the game, including Dina, Jesse, Lev, Tommy, and Manny. Of course, they can still choose Ellie, Abby, and Joel if they want to.

An Experience Like No Other

If Naughty Dog is eager to release a remastered version of The Last of Us Part II even when the original was launched just a few years ago, then it better has something unique to offer to warrant the community's money. Thankfully, there are new and exciting features that players can look forward to.

For one, the remaster is specifically made for the PlayStation 5, meaning, players can enjoy the game at native 4K resolution if they so desire. Those who prefer a good balance between visuals and frame rates can use the Performance Mode instead, which upscales the game from 1440p resolution to 4K without compromising performance.

The company will also include a "Guitar Free Play" feature that lets players unlock their true musical potential by using new instruments, in addition to the acoustic guitar, of course.

Other features that are included in the remaster are:

  • Speedrun Mode: Start a new campaign and finish it as fast as possible

  • Photo Mode: Allows players to take incredible shots of the game with options, such as dynamic lighting, Frame Forward, and Gaze Direction, among others

  • Full DualSense Compatibility: The game will make full use of the controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to provide a more immersive experience than the original
