After two years, Against the Storm is finally out of Early Access! Developer Eremite Games also released a new update to celebrate this momentous occasion.

Impressive City Builder

For those who are unfamiliar with this game, Against the Storm is a roguelite city builder where players take on the role of a Viceroy who oversees the construction and management of the Smoldering City.

First released on Steam as an Early Access title, developer Eremite Games was hard at work delivering a plethora of new content, new features, gameplay improvements, and bug fixes via regular patches to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone.

To celebrate the game's full release, the company has launched the Queen's Hand Trial Update as well.

Update Worthy of the Queen

Against the Storm's first major update since full release introduced a new Ironman game mode called the "Queen's Hand Trial." The objective here is that players must reforge the Adamantine Seal in one cycle without losing any settlements. Players who lose even one settlement will have to do everything all over again.

The Adamantine Seal is one of the most challenging things players can do in the game. Players must do a series of tasks before they can embark on a journey to reforge the said seal.

Now, those who are interested in trying out the Queen's Hand Trial must first complete Against the Storm by reforging the Adamantine Seal for the first time on the main game mode. Then, a new option will appear that allows players to create a new profile in the "Queen's Hand" tab of the "Profiles" UI in the main menu.

Unlike the normal game mode, Citadel upgrades will be presented at random instead of on a tree. Although players can pick 25 upgrades in total, they can only choose one of the three possible upgrades at a time. This is very challenging, to say the least, because the player's preferred upgrade may not be among the choices presented.

Despite this difficult undertaking, players will start the Queen's Hand Trial with Trade Routes, Big Shelter, and the Dullahan Wanderer.

If you are looking for an enjoyable roguelite city builder that is so compelling that you can sink so many hours into it, then you should definitely give Against the Storm a try!
